Snowy Day in April

The calendar tells us that April 9, 2016 is spring; however, looking out the window this morning, it looked as if winter had returned in full force.

Not looking at the clock, I am trying to remember, approximately 1 pm or so the sky was blue, the snow had stopped and it looked as if all was OK. I am glad I did not hold my breathe as only a short time later, the snow had started falling hard once again. It did that several times throughout the morning.

By 4 pm the sky was indeed blue, most of the snow melted, even at a mere 30 degrees, and I was outside taking photographs of the lovely spring flowers.

The hyacinths look and smell fantastic, however, the daffodils little heads were drooping from the cold rain, ice/sleet and snow they had endured this week. The still look lovely and I am hoping the sun that is now shining and is to shine tomorrow will perk them up.

April 9th in Northern Indiana has been quite interesting, how is the weather in your neighborhood?

Indiana is in a Frigid State

Brrrr is the feeling here in Northern Indiana. We started January 8th 2015 with -11 degrees with the promise of reaching 10 degrees, however, at 2:00 p.m. it is still actual temperature of -1 and the wind is 5 mph with gusts of 21 mph making the wind chill far below that.

Today’s Homecare client called off today as the schools were closed, therefore, she assumed too cold for me. I offered to clean tomorrow, however, the forecast is much better; therefore, I am not sure and probably will not know until tomorrow a.m. if I am to work.

I took the opportunity to stay home and be somewhat lazy; I stayed in my pajamas, watched a movie, Television and clean a little. I did not hit the gym even though I could have as the roads are clear and I should have. I really had intended to get on the exercise bike and I still might.

I have barely peaked my nose outside today. I only opened the door enough to let my dog and out and to take a picture of the water bowl as I could not believe my eyes. It is so cold my dogs heated water bowl cannot keep up and it is even somewhat protected from the winds.

Technically winter is only a couple of weeks in, however, many such as me are longing for spring.

For all you readers in warm places the Midwest is jealous as it is frigid in the state of Indiana.

Daffodils in Bloom

Isaiah 35:1 “the wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.” (KJV)

Here in northern Indiana the springtime is producing beautiful flowers.

One-by-one a new variety is emerging. Right now, it’s the colorful daffodils. The beautiful yellow flowers are in many flower gardens.

I like taking close ups of the flowers and even change up the settings on my camera to capture the beauty.

I hope you enjoy my photos of the daffodils, as much as we enjoy looking at them.
