Making Newspaper Planting Cups: Recycle and Reuse

Last February as the husband was cleaning and throwing things away, he came across a couple of gardening books and magazines. Some tips in this book were so simple and been around for as many years as I have, if not longer, yet they published as a new idea.

As the hubby was reading, he would laugh out load, and then say this is something a child would be able to do; however, he then came across this idea to make newspaper-planting cups and you would be recycling and reusing. What a great idea, really it is and oh so good not to share with all you gardeners.

Follow the newspaper folding tip; staple and you are good to go. Start using your newspaper planting cups by adding potting soil and the seeds of choice. When the seedlings are ready to transplant into the garden soil, there is no need to remove the newspaper cup, as it will break down in the garden.

Wow, how much easier could it be to get started planting your garden seeds? Make newspaper-planting cups, recycle and reuse.

  1. This is a great idea! I always have tons of old newspaper to recycle. I'm going to try this with some flower seeds I saved from last year. Thank you!
