A Himalayan Salt Lamp I made |
Himalayan salt lamps come from the
foothills of the 250 million-year old Himalayan Mountains.
Rock crystal salt deposits are carved into healing lamps. They have been around
for a while; however, they are now making their way to our small town.
I personally have eaten and used
Himalayan salt for my dry eyes since the beginning of 2010. I enjoy the taste
of Himalayan salt and heard that it consist of 84 living minerals and elements,
therefore, so much better for you than any other type of salt.
Rhonda Williamson
introduced Connie Gill, the owner of Bremen Curves for women, to the Himalayan
product line and salt lamps as a way to help her husband’s painful hands and an
additional way to supplement her income and enhance the lives of the Curves
women. However, not taking what Connie and her husband had to say as gospel,
as I am a doubting Thomas in nature, I pursued looking into Himalayan salt
lamps for myself. Already being a user of Himalayan salt, I wanted to know more
about its healing benefits.
When I made my Himalayan salt solution for my eyes, Hilde
Bschorr was extremely helpful, so I reached out for her to learn more about the
salt lamps. According to Hilde, the owner of Himalayan Living Salt,
“One
of the benefits for which salt lamps are known and valued is the production of
natural negative ions, creating an effect similar to being at a beach, standing
next to a waterfall, or using a manmade ion generator. When the lamp becomes
warm, it absorbs moisture and the crystal becomes damp on the surface. This
binds negative ions with the excess positive ions, neutralizing the
positively-charged atmosphere of a room.”
Still curious, my
sister and I made arrangements to talk to Rhonda
Williamson, the owner of Himalayan Salt Creations. While
talking to her, it was obvious of her passion for Himalayan salt lamps and
Himalayan salt in general. Her physical store, Himalayan Salt Creation, is
located in Warsaw Indiana; however, she does have a website
where you can purchase Himalayan salt lamps and other Himalayan salt product.
The advantage of visiting her store is you can see the unique Himalayan lamps
for first hand. The Himalayan salt lamps vary in shapes and sizes from a small
heart to a jumbo rock formation. If you are a lover of cats, she has it, or if
you want a symbol of Christ’s death, she also carries the cross in 2 completely
different patterns.
I asked Rhonda why she got into
the Himalayan salt business and this is what she said, “When I got sick 5 years
ago, I had a hard time understanding what my future would be because of my
Lupus and Fibromyalgia. I prayed about it all the time but wasn't getting any
answer. Actually, I wasn't paying attention. It was my illness that allowed me
to learn about the salt and then it was very clear. The lord wanted me to help
others by educating them about the salt and showing people how to use the salt
naturally to feel better. It was truly a blessing because I have been able to
help so many people feel better.” She continued to say, “When
you purchase a lamp, the first thing you want to do is measure the room it will
be in. The lamp that you purchase should be the right size for the room. You
can never have too many negative ions or too large of a lamp. The biggest
mistake is buying a lamp based on price rather on buying the proper size for
your room and your health problems. For example, if you have moderate to severe
allergies, asthma or sinus problems, then you want to purchase a lamp that is
suitable for the size of your room or larger. You can get a lamp that is too
small for a room, but you can never get a lamp that is too big.”
Dr Mercola explains what
Himalayan Salt Lamps do:
· Attracts
humidity causing the surface of the salt crystal to become moist
· Creates a
buildup of ions and removes moisture from your air
· Binds excessive
positive ions with their negative ions
· Helps to neutralize
the “electro-smog” in your air and reduces allergens and irritants
· Creates
potential soothing effects for you from multi-colored salt crystals
I had a hard time deciding on what to purchase as every time
I turned around I saw another Himalayan salt lamp I liked. I
would venture to say, no matter if you choose to purchase a Himalayan salt lamp
from a health store near you, or from a website; there is a Himalayas Salt Lamp
in a design or shape sure to please anyone.
Have you been introduced to Himalayan Salt Lamps yet? Curious after seeing Rhonda's salt lamps, I made arrangements to talk to Rhonda Williamson, the owner of Himalayan Salt Creations.
