Junebearer Strawberries in April

Strawberry blossom
Do you like fresh grown strawberries when they come in season? Do you like the health benefits from eating them? Would you like to save money while eating though fresh grown healthy strawberries?
A cluster of blossoms
Oh my goodness, strawberries are an easy crop to grow in the vegetable garden. Who says the garden is only for vegetables? It is about feeding your family nutritious food and saving money. Strawberries are low in calorie and high in vitamin C.

A couple of blossoms
If you are looking for information on growing strawberries, look on Seekyt, where you can read my how to garden strawberries: a tutorial. I have Junebearer strawberries in my organic vegetable garden; however, I am definitely considering a raised bed of everbearers. It would give me fresh berries and easier on my back as well and the Junebearers would continue to be used as juice and freeze for smoothies.

A portion of my patch
This year in Indiana, the weather in March was extremely warm forcing the flowers and the strawberries to bloom faster than normal.  We in April have still had chilly nights and light frost so I am hoping my Junebearers that are blossoming in April, make it.

Lilac the Beautiful Flower

Lilac the beautiful flower and aw the fragrance they give. This year in Indiana, spring has been very strange.

In March the temperature got to 89 degrees Fahrenheit, it forced all the spring flowers to bloom early.

Then the bottom dropped out plummeting the temperatures down below freezing.
Our dark purple lilac bush looks better than the lighter purple bushes, however, the neighbors bushes look fantastic.
I'm praying that with the temperatures being to a normal Indiana spring the light purple bushes will finish blooming.

Burning on a Windy Day

Once again the neighbor is burning brush or downed trees, however it is 18-20 mph winds and gusts higher than this. Not the day to be burning anything.

If you want to clean up your property be smart about it, if not the same results of firemen, firetrucks and ambulances may be your fate.

God’s Beautiful Gift of Flowers

Have you ever thought how we use God’s beautiful gift of flowers in so many ways? Who doesn’t love a vase full of fresh cut flowers from the garden setting on the kitchen table? Flowers with meaning tattoos are artistically displayed, on breasts, sides, backs, wrists and legs.

We us flowers types for weddings, whether in the spring, summer, fall or winter.  Flowers for weddings in December incorporate ivy or flocked evergreen as well as your favorite flower.
Flowers names for kids are quite often used. I myself used Jasmine for my daughter’s name back in 1980 way before it was popular.
Unfortunately, the opposite side of birth is death, and we choose flowers for funeral meaning and the loved one that passed away.
This Easter Sunday many white stargazer lilies or calla lilies will be displayed in churches everywhere.

John 19:30 “When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “it is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”

Don’t lose heart, that is NOT the end of the story, Jesus died for us, however, was resurrected on the 3rd day and ascended to heaven to be seated on the right side of our father.
